Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2 Review

It is believed that upon the third try, perfection is discovered. Hence the saying "third times the charm". Unfortunately for the twilight series, the fourth time just happens to be the charm.

Cutting loose the mistakes of the former and toning down the excess of love in the story, gave way for a tense romantic, fantasy thriller. Where Bella becoming a vampire gave us a look into the vampire mytho in the Twilight universe, her naïve outbursts which where supposed to show her new found ferocity almost cost the film its serious edge. But the even Kristen Stewart and her sadistic facial expressions wouldn't ruin this movie.

The entire cast are more mature and more professional and yes Bella's father got a reduced screen time, but sadly remains the champion of the world in the clueless department.

With a fantastic story and grooming of the cast and introduction of new characters,Twilight Breaking Dawn 2 stays alive. Sadly it is end of the Twilight saga.

A great movie indeed.
7.5/10.

A New Photo of Matt Damon in Elysium
Source: ScreenCrush November 19, 2012

There hasn't been much from Neill Blomkamp's film Elysium since it debuted footage at this year's Comic-Con, but now we've got the second official photo from the upcoming science fiction film (via ScreenCrush). The film is described as follows:

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Co-starring Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, and Diego Luna, Elysium is set to hit theaters on August 9, 2013.

TARZAN WANTS TO DO BAD THINGS WITH YOU

Director David Yates has reportedly found his Lord of the Jungle.
According to Variety, True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard has emerged as the filmmaker's choice to play the title role in Tarzan in Warner Bros.' retelling of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. No formal offer has been made yet, though, and Warners has yet to green-light the film, but a summer start is being eyed.

"Should Yates convince Warners brass to sign off on Skarsgard's casting, the Swedish thesp would play John Clayton III, known around the world as the famous "ape man" Tarzan. Years after he's re-assimilated into society, he's asked by Queen Victoria to investigate the goings-on in the Congo. Tarzan teams with an ex-mercenary named George Washington Williams to save the Congo from a fierce warlord who controls a massive diamond mine," claims Variety.

The Avengers' Samuel L. Jackson is up for the role of the mercenary Williams, "a Civil War veteran eager to redeem himself for his part in the massacre of Native Americans."

THE ISLAND OF SKYFALL

Remember that eerie, ghostly meeting place between 007 and Silva in Skyfall, a deserted island pocked not with palm trees and sand, but concrete and empty buildings? Believe it or not, this location was actually based on a real place.
In the movie, the island is given its own backstory from the mouth of Javier Bardem's evil character Silva, but the visual aesthetic is almost completely based on a site called called Hashima Island, which we briefly touched on in our Skyfall set visit.

Founded in 1916 about 15km off the coast of Nagasaki, the isle was once a small, but densely populated coal mining town -- a prototype model of industrialism in Japan. By 1959, 5,200 people lived on the 15-acre Hashima, which at the time made it the most densely populated area on the planet. In time the island came to resemble a normal city, featuring apartments, a doctor's office, restaurants, bars, and entertainment.
However, Hashima Island was shut down and abandoned in 1974, making it one of the most eerie ghost towns on Earth -- and a perfect hideout for a Bond villain.

In Skyfall, most of the scenes on Silva's island were created using sets and digital set extension. Additionally, the production team built a full-scale replica of several streets outside Pinewood Studios in the U.K. where much of the film was shot.

A Serious Superman

Man of Steel Features "Superman You've Never Seen Before"
Director Zack Snyder discusses his "more serious version" of Superman.

As well as discussing the legacy of Watchmen, director Zack Snyder has been teasing another one of his comic book adaptations this week – namely Man of Steel.
Speaking to the LA Times, Snyder explained "It's a more serious version of Superman. It's not like a heart attack. We took the mythology seriously. We take him as a character seriously. I believe the movie would appeal to anyone. I think that you're going to see a Superman you've never seen before."

As for his fascination with the character, Snyder says it's "because he's the father of all superheroes."
"What was it about him that cracked the code that made pop culture embrace this other mythology? What we've made as a film not only examines that but is also an amazing adventure story. It's been an honour to work on. As a comic book fan, Superman is like the Rosetta Stone of all superheroes. I wanted to be sure the movie treated it respectfully."
Man of Steel is released on June 14 2013

Mark Wahlberg was reportedly being eyed to star, but it now appears the studio has shifted their gaze to Bana.

DC's Supernatural Team-Up Movie?

Supernatural Team-Up Movie?
Filmmaker confirms he's in the very early process of developing the project.

He is. He isn't. Now maybe he is. Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has clarified those rumors about him doing a team-up film of DC's supernatural characters, a la the comic book series Justice League Dark. The project was reportedly titled Heaven Sent.
Del Toro told io9, "I am talking to DC and Warners about tackling the 'Dark universe' characters, but we're not calling it [Heaven Sent]. I don't know where this title came from. We have a very concrete storyline that I'm proposing — but it's still very, very early days."

He said of the alleged lineup including the likes of Deadman, Swamp Thing, Constantine and Spectre, "They're great characters. I relate to them because they are supernatural monsters, first and foremost." But he stressed again that "it's way early days."
So let's just keep our hopes in check for the time being, fellow fanboys.

WORD OF THE DAY

Happy Tuesday my Brave and Fearless!! Welcome to a new day, a new chapter, and a new opportunity to do it better than before!! Today's Daily Word is dedicated to temporary defeat! STOP GIVING PERMANENT ENERGY TO TEMPORARY THINGS!!! On your road to greatness there will be many times you will be met with temporary defeat... This in no way means that you should give up or wave the white flag!! This only means that there is a part of your plan that you need to adjust! Too often we get so close to our goal and because of a minor setback we decide to abandon ship!! DON'T!!! Victory is within the mile!! Keep pushing and realize that whatever the obstacle.... it too shall pass!! The only thing that is permanent is death!!! IF YOU AINT DEAD THEN IT AINT OVER!! Your dreams will be yours if you are willing to sacrifice and pay the price!! That price may include some hardship and some defeat but its a small price to pay once you get what you came for!! Defeat is temporary!! Treat it as such and keep making your dreams happen!!
-Ash'Cash
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place."
-Lance Armstrong
"Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent."
-Marilyn vos Savant
"When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it."
-Henry Ford
"Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end."
-Denis Waitley
"Difficulties are opportunities to better things; they are stepping stones to greater experience. Perhaps someday you will be thankful for some temporary failure in a particular direction. When one door closes, another always opens."

"Great minds have purposes; little minds have wishes. Little minds are subdued by misfortunes; great minds rise above them."
-Washington Irving
"The greater difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it. Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempests."

Pick Of The Day: Revolution

"Revolution" -- Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman's life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously – and unbeknownst to her – had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future. From director Jon Favreau ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2") and the fertile imaginations of J.J. Abrams ("Lost," "Person of Interest") and Eric Kripke ("Supernatural"), comes a surprising "what if" action-adventure series, where an unlikely hero will lead the world out of the dark. Literally.

SKYFALL REVIEW

SKYFALL Review by Kelvin Onuoha

Studio: Columbia Pictures (Sony), MGM
Director: Sam Mendes
Screenwriter: Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, John Logan
Starring: Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Ola Rapace, Tonia Sotiropoulou
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama
MPAA Rating: PG-13

Believe it or not, hate it or love it,but the Daniel Craig Bond movies are a remake of the original Bond series which started with Sean Connery's Dr No. Now in this remake which started off with Casino Royal we begin to see Bond as not just an agent but also a man. His rage, his love, his desires, beliefs and moral obligation.

Enter SKYFALL arguably the best Bond movie ever made. According to IMDB (Internet Movie Database),the story line is this; Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Loyalty being the premise of this movie is what makes it challenging for Bond and extremely intriguing for us. The movie deserves applause for its fantastic dialogue, multidimensional characters, cinematography and a clever cast. Bond's origins have been a thing of mystery,as no Bond movie ever truly and wholly touched the subject. SKYFALL gives us a clear picture of Bond's childhood and also makes note of the tragic event that gave birth to Bond The Assassin.

Itching to avoid giving away spoilers I will draw this review to a close by revealing only themes which the movie explores; Loyalty,Honor,Justice, vengeance, retribution and commitment. And with that said it is with great pleasure that I award this film with the score of 8.5/10. A must see indeed.

WESLY SNIPES FOR EXPENDABLES 3

Following the huge worldwide box office success of The Expendables 2, Sylvester Stallone and his team are now moving forward on The Expendables 3 project, with Nicolas Cage joining the geriatric gang of action men, as first reported by JoBlo.

Sly recently hit up his official Facebook page to say a few words on the film:
"We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives. a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused. ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing 'The Expendables'. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want."

Meanwhile, Adi Shankar's all-female Expendables riff is well underway, casting Gina Carano in a leading role back in September.

Create Your New Beginning!!

Create Your New Beginning!!
Posted by Ash'Cash (@IAmAshCash)
Happy Sunday, my Warriors of Light!

Today's Daily Word is dedicated to creating a new beginning! Every ending starts something new, and as the creator of your life's story, it is imperative that you end the story you don't want, and replace it with a new story that fits your desires!

Many times, our unwillingness to let go of struggle is the only reason why our life isn't the way we want it to be! Life is perspective! You know… Half Empty vs. Half Full! But, either way, the perspective we need is gratitude that we even have a cup! Effective immediately, we need to stop taking the small things for granted, and use them to create our new beginning! Life has been and will be exactly what you make it! Start today and make it great! Nothing can stop you but you!
-Ash'Cash

"Begin today. Declare out loud to the universe that you are willing to let go of struggle and eager to learn through joy." -Sarah Ban Breathnach

"Don't wait for something big to occur. Start where you are, with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater." -Mary Manin Morrissey

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." -Theodore Roosevelt

"If all you can do is crawl, start crawling." -Rumi

"The secret to living the life of your dreams is to start living the life of your dreams today, in every little way you possibly can." -Mike Dooley

"Life is not a dress rehearsal. Stop practicing what you're going to do and just go do it. In one bold stroke you can transform today." -Marilyn Grey

"You don't need endless time and perfect conditions. Do it now. Do it today. Do it for twenty minutes and watch your heart start beating." -Barbara Sher

JAMIE FOXX IS ELECTRIC IN SPIDERMAN 2

Jamie Foxx, who headlines Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, is up for a major role in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Variety has the news and, while they're only able to confirm so far that Foxx would play a villain, they're maintaining that rumors point to that character being Electro.

Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley are attached to star in the May 2, 2014 release. This time around, the script arrives from Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt.

Electro has never definitively appeared on the big screen, though some fan speculation has suggested that the mysterious figure (played by Michael Massee) featured in The Amazing Spider-Man's end credits was, in fact, our first look at the character. First appearing in 1964's "The Amazing Spider-Man" #9, Electro's real name is Max Dillon and he has the power to control electricity.

Jamie Foxx semi-confirmed the rumor by tweeting that he's dressing up as Electro for Halloween.

M.I 5 Is Coming...

Adding to his next release Jack Reacher, Tom Cruise has an enormous production queue lined up, including Oblivion, All You Need is Kill, and Van Helsing.

But fear not, there's also still the possibility of Mission: Impossible V.
In a recent interview with Total Film, Cruise provided fresh update on the potential sequel. "I started Mission: Impossible hoping I could make many of them," he said. "It's a character that I can grow with. At that time it was the most expensive film in the history of Paramount Pictures, and the first film I was producing."

"It's been pretty exciting," Cruise added. "I'll make a bunch of those. I'll make as many as people want to see... because they're very challenging, and so much fun to make."
As for what's to come for Ethan Hunt? "We're already working on different images. Talking conceptually. I love traveling around promoting different movies because I'm always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways... coming up with different sequences."

Marvel Studios Boss Loves Iron Man 3's Villain

We got our first glimpse at Ben Kingsley's Mandarin in Iron Man 3 last week. A close match to the source material's Mandarin, from the brief clip we saw. I personally was in giggling in excitement, like christmas came early.

Since then, Marvel Studios boss and Iron Man 3 producer Kevin Feige has praised Kingsley's performance, noting that his interpretation of the character has helped to reinvigorate the franchise.

"On his last take of his first full day as the Mandarin, when they yelled 'Cut!' the entire crew burst into applause, spearheaded by Mr. Downey himself," Feige told Total Film. "It was pretty amazing to see that."
"That's what you get when you hire Sir Ben Kingsley," he continued. "He's so excited about his part and so into this character, and frankly just scaring the heck out of everybody. They're like, 'You've broken us out of our skeptical malaise!'"
Iron Man 3 hits theaters stateside May 3, 2013.

JAMIE FOX FOR PRESIDENT?

White House Down is making its case as an early contender for the best (or at least most entertaining) action movie of Summer 2013.  Jamie Foxx plays the President of the United States, while Channing Tatum is the secret service agent who protects him during a terrorist attack on the White House.  Add director Roland Emmerich to the fun premise and likeable stars, and you have a team of promise.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, Lance Reddick, James Woods, Garcelle Beauvais, and Rachelle Lefevre co-star.  White House Down opens on June 28, 2013.  Check out a new behind-the-scenes photo that highlights Foxx's presidential look after the jump.

NOAH'S ARK GETS DESTEOYED,AGAIN?

God must love irony. The ark built for director Darren Aronofsky's biblical film Noah, starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, is in danger of being damaged or destroyed by a massive storm.
Hurricane Sandy forced the film to postpone production Monday.

According to the L.A. Times, "Aronofsky's production team built two massive ships—one inside a Brooklyn sound stage, the other in the water at. Oyster Bay, N.Y.  And Oyster Bay, a small inlet on the Long Island Sound, is very much in the path of Hurricane Sandy, with local flooding and wind gusts of up to 63 mph reported in the area."
The mock ark -- measuring 450 feet long and 75 x 45 feet wide -- had already been partially deconstructed because filming is finishing soon. Obviously, if Hurricane Sandy were to be damaged, what's left of the ship, which was not built to actually be seaworthy, then further delays are to be expected.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter says Hurricane Sandy has also forced the crew of the HMS Bounty, used as the titular vessel in the Marlon Brando classic Mutiny on the Bounty and as one of the tall ships in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, to (safely) abandon ship off the coast of North Carolina.

A BLACK JAMES BOND? FOR REAL?

Those Idris Elba as James Bond Rumors are Back
Skyfall's Naomie Harris reignites the rumor mill.

The name's Elba, Idris Elba. Yes, the rumor mill is abuzz again that the Thor and Luther actor might succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond once the current. 007 retires his license to kill. (Craig is currently slated to play the British secret agent through Bond 25.)
The rumors have made the rounds before, but this time they've been rekindled by none other than Skyfall actress Naomie Harris, who stars with Elba in the upcoming Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

In a chat with The Huffington Post, Harris revealed, "I didn't realize that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris [Elba] and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli [James Bond producer] and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond. And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he's a great guy."
Harris added that she wasn't even aware that Elba was a fellow Brit until she worked with as she only knew him from his role on The Wire.

While there might very well be a black James Bond in the future, Elba's age may work against him. Let's say Craig will be Bond for the next 4-6 years then that means Elba would be 46 years-old at the time he'd be cast as Bond. (Craig will be 50 at that point.)

This would tie Elba with Roger Moore, who was a boyish-looking 46 when he first played Bond. (Timothy Dalton was 43, Pierce Brosnan was 42, Sean Connery was 32, and George Lazenby was 30).

Elba was most recently seen onscreen in Prometheus and will soon be seen in Thor: The Dark World and Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi epic Pacific Rim.

WOLVERINE ISNT A PREQUEL

The Wolverine is Not a Prequel
Director says new Wolvie film takes place after all previous X-Men movies.

For many, it was assumed that director James Mangold's upcoming The Wolverine would act as followup to 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Given that this new film is set in Japan, coupled with the after-credits sequence of Logan in Japan from the previous film, it was widely assumed that The Wolverine would be a direct sequel leading up to Bryan Singer's X-Men from 2000.

However, Mangold recently said this isn't the case. In fact, The Wolverine isn't a prequel at all. "Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all," the filmmaker told Empire. "Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there's a tremendous sense of isolation for him."

Having said that, there will still be some sequences set during World War II, but the rest of the film will take place post-X-Men: The Last Stand."That's something that for me was very important, that I land in a very specific place in his timeline," Mangold continued. "I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it.

The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that's such an interesting part of Logan's character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie."

While most X-Men films have been categorized as "comic book action adventure," Mangold said this latest entry is more of a "Japanese noir picture with tentpole action in it."
The Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman, and is scheduled for release on July 26, 2013.

Hannibal Comes To Television

First Look at Dr. Lecter from NBC's Hannibal!
Check out new pics of Mads Mikkelson as Hannibal Lecter, along with Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford.

The first images of actor Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as the iconic/sadistic Dr. Hannibal Lecter are now online, over at EW.com. Their gallery has a bunch of new photos from Bryan Fuller's (Pushing Daisies) new NBC series, Hannibal, based on the famous characters from Thomas Harris' novels Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs.

Hannibal revolves around the partnership formed between FBI profiler Will Graham and "consultant" Lecter; solving serial murder cases together while Lecter's own proclivity for, ahem, eating human flesh remains a secret.

Actor Hugh Dancy portrays Graham (played by Edward Norton in Red Dragon) and Laurence Fishburne plays Agent Jack Crawford (played by Scott Glenn in The Silence of the Lambs).

They say Death and Taxes are the only two things guaranteed in life. and since we don't know what will happen with taxes until after November 6th (make sure you go out and vote), we are going to concentrate on death! Not in the gloomy way most people talk about death, but as a matter of fact that everyone at some point will die! Knowing this unavoidable occurrence, most people still walk around each day as if life goes on forever! They don't fully seize the moment and waste time living other people's lives!

Effective immediately, you must realize that TODAY is the only day you have for sure! Don't wait until death is knocking on your door to decide to live! LIVE NOW!! Everything you need to be successful is already in your possession, so all you simply have to do is use it! DO NOT let another day pass by that you are not working on your passion! Life is for living, and the only way to do it right is to live doing something your love! Fear is a liar, so whatever fear is giving you as a reason to wait is the furthest thing from the truth! You have nothing to fear except fear
itself! Live in Peace! Take what your deserve!!

The film follows an elite DEA task force that deals with the world's deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.

The original screenplay for Ten arrives from Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, A Good Day to Die Hard). Bill Block, Paul Hanson, Joe Roth, Palak Patel and Al Ruddy will serve as producers. Alex Ott of Ayer's Crave Films is executive producer.

THE ORIGINAL LOOK OF JAMES BOND

The Look Of Bond
Ever wondered how Fleming intended James Bond to look? On two occasions, Bond is remarked to resemble the American singer-songwriter Hoagy Carmichael (below), except with a "cruel mouth" and a "coldness in the eyes". Other physical details that have since been ditched include a three-inch scar on his cheek and the faint scar of a Russian Cyrillic letter carved onto his hand by a SMERSH agent who had marked him as a spy.

25 things People May Not Know About James Bond.

25 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About James Bond
From food and drink to sex and death, these are the things that make Bond tick.

October 24, 2012

by Ali Gray

He's the most iconic character in cinema, he's best mates with the Queen and he's been in more movies than Freddy Krueger, Harry Potter and Iron Man combined, yet still James Bond remains something of a mystery. There are only a few things that everyone knows about 007 – his favourite gun, how he mixes his drinks, that he's a wildcat in the sack – but he famously steers clear of Hello! Magazine photospreads and he's rarely seen on the cover of heat. So join us as we attempt to throw some light on Blighty's foremost secret agent ahead of the release of Skyfall, with 25 things you (probably) didn't know about James Bond.
1. Shaken, Not Stirred
Bond's preferred tipple in Ian Fleming's first Bond book, Casino Royale, was the Vesper Martini – part gin, part vodka and a touch of Lillet Blanc wine. However, when it came to filming the first Bond movie, Dr. No, Smirnoff paid to have their vodka promoted, meaning they didn't want the gin mentioned. Bond's brand of booze quickly caught on and changed cocktail culture forever.
2. Bond The Boffin
According to Bond lore, young James was briefly educated at Eton, before going on to study at Fettes College in Edinburgh, a public school which was attended by Ian Fleming himself, and some bloke called Tony Blair. As unlikely as it sounds, Sean Connery was once the school's milkman ("I'll have a pint. Skimmed… not semi-skimmed").

3. Britain's Finest
The best of Blighty is actually half Scottish and half Swiss. In the Bond novels, James' parents – Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix-Bond – die in a climbing accident in the French Alps, orphaning him at the age of 11. He then went to live with his aunt in a small village near Kent called Pett Bottom, which perhaps explains his attitude towards women.
4. The Basis For Bond
Author Ian Fleming based 007 on a number of different spies – not to mention his own experiences, given that he served as a Naval Intelligence Officer during WWII – but the biggest inspiration for Bond was English polymath John Dee. An all-round genius and 16th century badass, Dee would sign his letters to monarch Elizabeth I with a '007' glyph, signifying they were for her eyes only.

5. Tux Cuts
Fifth Bond Pierce Brosnan was long pursued by the Eon producers for the role, but the character is bigger than any single actor's career prospects. When he signed his contract for GoldenEye, Brosnan was informed that, though he was free to pursue other additional roles in-between Bond movies, the actor could not appear in another film wearing a tuxedo.
6. Names Bond
When it came to giving his secret agent a name, Fleming wanted a "flat, quiet" name, aiming to make him an "extremely dull, uninteresting" man to whom interesting things happened. Fleming spotted an ornithology book, 'Birds Of The West Indies' by James Bond, and thought: "By God… it's the dullest name I ever heard." Clearly he'd never seen snooker played Nigel Bond in action.
7. Bond's Blueprint
Among the other inspirations for the character of James Bond was Ian Fleming's beloved elder brother Peter, a journeyed travel writer and explorer. Another Bond-esque figure thought to be factored into 007's DNA was a British intelligence officer and MI6 station head in Paris – given point six above, we're lucky England's greatest secret agent didn't introduce himself as "Dunderdale… Wilfred "Biffy" Dunderdale."

8. Bond's Beef
It's as rare to see James Bond eating as it is to see Jack Bauer having a wee, but Ian Fleming detailed plenty of 007's eating habits in his books. Bond's favourite foods when off duty include grilled sole, oeufs en cocotte (eggs and crème fraîche to you and me) and cold roast beef with potato salad. We bet he puts away more than a few Maccy Ds on the road, though.

9. Meet Jimmy Bond
Sean Connery was not the first actor to play James Bond, and no, it wasn't Blockbusters host Bob Holness either. The first man to ever embody 007 was American actor Barry Nelson, who played card shark 'Jimmy Bond' in a terrible adaptation of Casino Royale for US TV. Nelson went on to play the manager of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

10. For Your Size Only
It's quite possible the James Bond we know and love owes his popularity to leprechauns: producer Albert R. Broccoli hired Sean Connery for Dr. No after seeing him in Disney film Darby O'Gill And The Little People. Think that's weird? George Lazenby got the job after being spotted in an ad for Fry's Chocolate Cream.

11. Sex Bomb
A frisky blighter and no mistaking, James Bond has done more than his fair share of blowing away the stereotype that Brits are unadventurous lovers. Places where 007 has 'attempted re-entry' include a train, a plane, a forest, a stable, a motorised iceberg (obviously), a hospital, a submarine, a dinghy and a space shuttle. Whatever it takes to keep the British end up, dude.

12. Rank And File
Though his military rank is never explicitly detailed in the films, James Bond served as a Commander in the Royal Navy (he's referred to as such in A View To A Kill and GoldenEye) before he began working for the British Secret Service. When Bond fakes his death in You Only Live Twice, his 'funeral' looks awfully similar to a Navy burial at sea.
13. Bond's Birds
James Bond has been saving the world on screen for 50 years now, but his record with the ladies is even more impressive. Since the release of Dr. No in 1962, 007's bed post has been notched 52 times – each sexual partner boasting a name more ridiculous than the last. Around three-quarters of the ladies he's bedded have tried to kill him, which is about average, right guys? Guys?
14. Double-0 Also-Rans
We all know Bond's rank is 007, but what of the other 00-agents at MI6? Some are glimpsed in the movies – 002 is killed by The Man With The Golden Gun, 003 dies in the opening scenes of A View To A Kill, 004 eats it in The Living Daylights and 006 was Sean Bean – while others, such as the mythical 001, remain a mystery. Spare a thought for poor old 009, however – he was killed while dressed as a clown in Octopussy.

15. The Spy Who Killed Me
Across his 22 canonical films (Never Say Never Again and 1967's Casino Royale don't count), Bond has ended a whopping 352 lives. Pierce Brosnan is by far the deadliest Bond – he killed 47 people alone in GoldenEye – while Sean Connery was the biggest pacifist, dispatching a mere four men in Dr. No. Roger Moore did his fair share of death-dealing, but he only got to cap one ass in The Man With The Golden Gun, the lowest kill-count of any Bond movie.
16. Bond's Family Motto
Most Bond films get their titles from the original Ian Fleming novels, or incidental details relating to Fleming's personal life (GoldenEye was the name of his holiday house in Jamaica), but you may be wondering where the title The World Is Not Enough originates. Well, it's actually a translation of the Bond family motto, 'Orbit Non Sufficit'. Yeah, we thought it was better suited to supervillains too.
17. Bond's Favourite Game
To watch Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, you'd assume that poker – particular Texas Hold 'Em – was Bond's card game of choice. You'd be wrong. James' favourite card-based pastime is actually Baccarat; Connery plays a hand or two as far back as Dr. No, and Pierce Brosnan even gets in on the game in GoldenEye. Bond is also reportedly brilliant at Snap.

18. The Bond Homestead
He's stayed in some of the most luxurious hotels in the most exotic countries in the world, but where does Bond officially lay his hat? It hasn't been confirmed that it's officially his off-duty home, but Skyfall gets its name from Bond's ancestral home in Scotland: Skyfall Lodge. We hope he has insurance: the shot of Javier Bardem walking away from a flaming building in the trailer does not bode well.
19. The Bond Who Wasn't Bond
There's nothing more iconic in Bond lore than the opening gun barrel sequence, but did you know that the man who turns and shoots in the first three Bond movies isn't Sean Connery? It's actually stuntman Bob Simmons, whose silhouette was used by designer Maurice Binder when Connery was unavailable. Fun Bob Simmons fact: he was the man who pioneered the use of trampolines in the field of jumping away from explosions.

21. Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
We all remember the needless furore surrounding the appointment of a blonde Daniel Craig as Bond in 2005, but more shocking is the fact that Sean Connery wore a toupee for every single one of his outings as 007. Did you know that by the time he starred in A View To A Kill in 1985, Roger Moore's hair had to be professionally thickened before each take?
22. The Bonds That Never Were
Only six men have been lucky enough to play James Bond on screen, but they leave in their wake a huddled mass of weeping actors denied their dream role. The men who almost played Bond include Eric Bana, Hugh Jackman, James Purefoy, Julian McMahon, Gerard Butler, Sam Neill, Clint Eastwood (!) and Dougray Scott, who famously lost the role of Wolverine early in the X-Men shoot too.

23. James Bond Jr.
No, not the short-lived (and terrible) cartoon: James Bond actually sired a child. At least, he did in Ian Fleming's version of You Only Live Twice, anyway: Bond gets Kissy Suzuki pregnant before departing for pastures new. In 1997, a short Bond story called Blast From The Past was published in Playboy, in which Bond's adult son contacts him from New York, only to be killed when his old man turns up for Dad duties. Nice one, pop.

24. The Name's Seagal… Steven Seagal
Bond learned from the best: Sean Connery's martial arts instructor on non-canon remake Never Say Never Again was none-other-than Steven Seagal, who accidentally broke Connery's wrist in training. Rumours that Seagal went on to yell "Who sent you? WHO SENT YOU?" are sadly unconfirmed.

25. Act Your Age
Technically, though the character did age accordingly throughout the Connery-Moore years (1962-85), Bond doesn't actually get older – unfortunately, the actors who play him do. Connery was 53 when he shot Never Say Never Again, while Roger Moore was 57 in A View To A Kill, bedding a girl almost 30 years his junior. Daniel Craig was the first Bond who was younger than the series itself.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 2: WINTER SOLDIER

Actor Frank Grillo (The Grey, Warrior, Prison Break) has confirmed the buzz that he's in the running for a role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Grillo tweeted Monday, "See Ya LA. It was a a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica."

The actor's tweet comes on the heels of a Twitter rumor reported Saturday by comedy talk radio personality Matthew Aaron that Grillo has screen-tested and "is THIS CLOSE to getting the role of Crossbones in the Marvel movies."

Crossbones, aka Brock Rumlow, is an assassin and mercenary whose path has crossed the likes of Red Skull, Baron Zemo, and Hydra. He has no super powers, but is a master fighter, marksman, and pilot.

In the comics, Crossbones carried out the assassination of Steve Rogers, but time will tell if that storyline will also play out onscreen.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier begins filming next spring in Cleveland.
