Luke Evans, who's appeared in such films as The Three Musketeers (2011) and The Raven (2012), will soon be headlining another literary classic adaptation, this time starring in Universal's Dracula Year Zero.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will mark the actor's first starring role for a studio, as he helps bring to life the dramatic horror origin story. Michael De Luca will produce the project, with commercials helmer Gary Shore making his directorial debut on the feature.
The story follows a man who, after his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.
The studio hopes to begin production on Dracula Year Zero later this year.
